Talk About Karmic Retribution: Sharon Stone Gets Hers!

Posted under fashion & Sharon Stone

In comments regarding the China earthquake, Sharon Stone - the face of Dior worldwide - said, “I’ve been concerned with how we should deal with the Olympics, because they are not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who is a good friend of mine,” said Stone. “And then all this earthquake and all this stuff happened and I though, is that karma – when you’re not nice that the bad things happen to you?” Stone said.

News outlets around the world obviously picked these comments up, and the interview was posted on YouTube. This was not good news for her Dior campaign in Asia. People in China have been ripping down her billboards and voicing their own opinions. So vehemently, in fact, that Dior China is removing and recalling all advertisements featuring Stone. However, the spokespeople are playing it off as coincidental timing, saying Stone had only been used for limited advertising on select cosmetic products, and plans were already in place before the controversy to use a different model.
Either way, you’d think a seasoned star like Stone would know when to keep her mouth shut - especially when so much pain and suffering has been involved. She issued an apology for her statements, but with something like this, there’s no “takesies-backsies.”
