Not since Britian’s Princess Diana glided onto the fashion scene in the early 1980’s has there been a first lady with as much class, beauty and elegance as the new wife of Nicholas Sarkozy, model Carla Bruni.

Mr Sarkozy, 54, and Ms Bruni, 41, had a whirlwind courtship and they married less than three months after they reportedly first met, and less than four months after Sarkozy divorced his second wife, Cécilia. 

But in the past year, as Carla became the First Lady of France and revealed herself as a fashion plate for the new millennium, we also see that back in 1989 she was also a first lady……a first lady in lingerie.

At just 21 Carla became a lingerie post model for the UK fashion chain, Next, and appeared in beautiful, classy poses during photo shoots wearing white lacy bra, knickers and stockings and also in an all-in-one trimmed with gold lace.

So as we work through Carla’s life as a fashion icon, from France’s First Lady of fashion, back to the 1980’s when she was a chain store model, we cant help but remind those of us among us who thirst for scandal that Carla has also been the girlfriend of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger at a time when she also appeared in a less demure and far more salacious photo, titled, Carla Bruni In Bed, where she was completely nude.

Those photographs have recently been sold at auction for nearly $5,000 and a full frontal nude picture went for more than $98,000 last year.

Of course, not wanting to miss out on the sexy wife of Sarkozy’s pull as a model, old man Hugh Hefner also jumped on the bandwagon in June 2008 when he featured Carla in his iconic magazine Playboy.

However, the French President is said to have ‘no issue’ with tasteful images of his wife, being made public, even if she is undressed!

Follow that Michelle Obama!……………On second thoughts, no, don’t!
