Once again, a celebrity, with no formal art and design training or qualifications has made the decision to put pencil to paper and release a clothing collection amidst the other hundreds of celebrity brands that currently swamp the clothing rails on the high street.

Currently, we have a huge choice including, Victoria Beckham with DVB, Gwen Stefani with L.A.M.B., The Jessica Simpson collection by none other than Jessica Simpson, J-Lo Clothing by Jennifer Lopez, Christy Turlington’s Nuala, Reba by Reba McIntyre, Elle Macpherson Intimates and of course Charlie’s Angels star Jaclyn Smith’s range, Jaclyn Smith.

And now, letting us know she’s ‘The Best damn Thing’, and jumping on the band wagon, that we all appear to be so influenced by, is singer Avril Lavigne with her latest collection in her clothing line, Abbey Dawn, which reflects the punk/pop style that she is frequently seen wearing.

Lavigne’s collection features neon pinks, black and white checks, bowler hats, top hats, leopard print and mussed-up school wear, which echo the style of an early Britney Spears!

As part of New York fashion week, the Falling Down singer brought her collection to the ‘Rock and Roll’ fashion show, which was held at Style360 at the Metropolitan Pavilion as in Manhattan on Monday night.

The collection features adult and older teen outfits as well as young teen and tween items.

Prior to the 24 year old Lavign’s appearance at New York fashion week, the USA clothing store, Kohl’s have been displaying the clothing line Abbey Dawn since it’s launch in Alhambra, California in July 2008.

The line was named after Avril’s childhood nickname and described by Kohl’s as a “juniors lifestyle brand”.

Along with the clothing line, Avril has put together jewelry which carries the skull and zebra patterns similar to the artwork on Lavigne’s album The Best Damn Thing.

Speaking to reporters at this week’s fashion week in NYC, the blonde songbird said, ‘I have a very particular style. I want it to be available to a lot of girls, and I want it to be affordable. What’s really important to me is that everything fits well and is well-made, so I try everything on and approve it all. I’m making sure that I think people in their 20s are going to wear it because it’s going to be a sexy fit, not just, ‘Oh, T-shirts and hoodies.
‘The hoodies are slimming. It’s not a thick, bulky material.’

Lavigne has worn some of the clothes in her line at various concerts.
