Claire’s got a new gig:  the face of Gucci’s new jewelry ad campaign set to debut around the world this fall. The campaign will be shot by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

Gucci creative director Frida Giannini expounded on the reason behind the label’s decision “Claire Danes is a modern icon and one of the most interesting young actresses on the international scene. Claire’s sensual, confident beauty and her passionate, independent and strong character embodies today’s Gucci woman.”

While I’m not sure I would consider Claire Danes to be a modern “icon” - maybe that’s because I’ve recently been watching re-runs of “My So-Called Life” - she has grown out of those days and into a sophisticated woman, that much I can agree with.

Although we haven’t heard a lot about Danes recently, 2008 looks like it’ll shape up to be a good year: the actress is also starring in Richard Linklater’s upcoming film “Me and Orson Welles.”
