See if you can follow the name-dropping here: Salma Hayek recently hosted a dinner for Edmundo Castillo (pictured above), the creative director for the brand Sergio Rossi. While at the dinner, Giannina Facio - the wife of Ridley Scott - revealed plans about the upcoming biopic film about Gucci that she’s going to produce. Whew! Yes, the wife of directing great Ridley Scott will be producing a film about fashion legend Gucci.

Facio revealed that - although the project has apparently been put on hold due to the writer’s strike - she has settled on a writer to work on the script. Facio says she defers to her husband’s expertise when it comes to the major decisions to be made, especially concerning talent, which has yet to be cast. But if history is any guide, it will no doubt be A-list. Scott has a penchant for drawing names like Russell Crowe, Denzel Washington, and Julianne Moore.
The film will span from the Sixties to the Nineties, so expect to see original period pieces from Gucci’s archives.
