From NYC to London: Fashion Week Hops the Pond

What would anything fashion-related be without all-at-once icon/grunge girl/trend-starter/rehab visitor/super star Kate Moss? In spite of the drama and controversy that sometimes often swirls around her, she’s made a huge name for herself, and that’s why we wouldn’t have expected anything less than her flawless presence at London fashion week. (We know, SF fashion week was only a few weeks ago, followed by the be-all-end-all, week-to-end-all-weeks in New York, now - here comes London hot on its heels. What’s a fashion obsessed girl to do?)

Kate was spotted in her motherland at the “Golden Age of Couture” party - talking to David Cameron and looking devilish in a creamy vintage gown.

Of course Moss wasn’t the only celeb presence in the house. Anna Wintour, who was spotted just days ago at New York fashion week with her socialite daughter, naturally made an appearance. She donned Prada, as did Emma Thompson, Lily Cole, and several others.

Jemima Khan made quite an impression in a metallic Grecian style dress courtesy of Dolce and Gabana - which featured a ten inch metal “chastity” corset.

Another celeb known for out-there fashion - Prince - turned up as well.

The Fashion pages of the London Telegraph reports that “Other guests included Elizabeth Hurley, Quentin Tarantino, John Galliano, Jade Jagger, Vivienne Westwood, Bryan Ferry, and the leader of the opposition David Cameron, with his wife Samantha, who wore a stunning red Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti gown. Kevin Spacey, Mario Testino, and Courtney Love were also present, plus a whole pile of models including Lily Cole, Erin O’Connor, Jessica Stam, Stella Tennant and ‘model of the moment’ Agyness Deyn.”

Ok, so some of those names may not have made their way into homes across America, but if Kate’s world-wide appeal is any indicator, we’ll probably be hearing a lot more about them - especially since Euro-chic is so much better than “Ameri-chic.”

The fashion/star-studded exhibition “The Golden Age of Couture” took a look at the celebrated haute couture design in Paris and London between 1947 - that’s when Christian Dior launched the “New Look” - and 1957, when he died. This event was one of the highlights of London Fashion Week.

The week’s festivities will conclude with the first ever catwalk show by daughter of Beatles’ legend Paul McCartney, Stella McCartney.

It’s set to be a charity show to aid victims of recent floods in the UK - and as if one celeb name wasn’t enough to lend to the show and line, it’s being organized by the supermodel/ activist (?)Â Naomi Campbell.
