As we mentioned yesterday, a smorgasboard of superstars jetted across the pond, from one fabulous fashion week (New York) to the other (London) - oh to be rich and glamorous!
But back to fashion - these stars - who obviously can’t pass up a chance to schmooze in style - were busy taking in some of the newest looks from designers many Americans probably haven’t even heard of. We’re here to help.

Armand Basi came all the way from Germany, on the creator’s insistence that he make his brand international, and not simply show it within Germany. Basi has morphed into a party clothes label, though it’s turned out to be a rather experimental, posh look. If nothing else, it’s good fashion eye candy - raffia mini skirts, dresses in huge herring patterns, bubble jackets, odd colors.
Todd Lynn’s lurex pants and snakeskin boots helped him keep his title as “the reigning London king of rock n roll tailoring.” His collection is named, “Use Your Illusion,” Lynn’s spring-summer 2008 collection was a rather wacky series of exercises in choppy tailoring that had some great moments even if collectively his show never came close to being that holy grail of all style followers - a fashion moment. The show attracted names like Anna Wintour and Suzy Menkes.

One name probably known by some style-conscious Yanks — Luella. She was formerly known by her full name: Luella Bartley. She returned home to the runways of London after spending the past six years in New York and Milan. She brought a catwalk collection fit forthe 21st century - and comic book addicts - show casing floral prints and acid colors stamped with Batman insignia. She described it as, “A little bit geeky, but also very sexy. She’s into her comic books but she’s also very feminine,” she told Reuters TV, referring to her catwalk character.
Stars like Jennifer Aniston and Kelly Rowland (Luella Handbag fans) had another reason to celebrate - Luella’s show was set to coincide with her opening up a store on London’s Brook Street.
And she’s not the only target to set up shop in the area - which has become a destination for the world’s wealthy and well-connected. U.S. designer Diane von Furstenburg opened a store earlier in the week, and glamour brand Playboy are opening a store as well.
Meanwhile, Cartier cut the ribbon on an extension to their Bond Street flagship that will double it in size. Because you can never have enough room for rocks!
