Contrary to what one might think, during times of recession and a down turn in the economy, hem lines usually get longer and when the economy is doing well, hem lines shoot up. With less disposable income one would expect hem lines to be using less fabric in a ‘bear’ economy and using more in a ‘bull’ economy, but apparently that just isn’t so!

Although fashion doesn’t seem to be responding quite as quickly during this recession it could be due to the fact that, at the time the designers designed the lines for spring, the economy was good.
