Isn’t it kind of a “normal” Hollywood teen progression: reality TV, rehab, your own clothing line? Granted, Ally Hilfiger strayed from this a little in that - as the daughter of a famed designer - she’d grown up with some celeb status anyway, which was - depending on how you look at it - either helped along or completely crushed by her role in the MTV series, “Rich Girls.” She then took a trip to rehab.

It’s always interesting to me to see someone rise out of relative oblivion and see how they handle fashion choices. Oh sure, watching them make their way in the Hollywood world is interesting too, and of course they have a group of stylists, publicists and image consultants to help, but they can only do so much with what they’re given, and for better or worse the unerlying personalities and tastes shine through.

That’s why I’ve liked watching Carrie Underwood come into her own. She seemed like a down to earth southern girl on American Idol, and fame hasn’t seemed to read more ....

Eva Longoria and Eva Mendes lent their dynamic personalities to the launch of a new night club, the Nikki Beach at the Palais Stephanie in Paris as part of the Cannes Film Festival going on this week. Macy Gray is headlining the opening - and is it just me, or does it seem like Macy disappeared for a while?

I’ll admit, I was a little surprised when I found out J-Alb was pregnant. Some stars you just … expect it from, but not her. Plus, she seems so … young. And, there’s the whole sex symbol thing, which made me wonder how pregnancy would affect that status! I’m sure she’ll come out on top because she’s doing an amazingly stylish job of being pregnant - but we really wouldn’t expect anything less!

Plus it doesn’t hurt that she’s one of those people you couldn’t tell was pregnant unless she turned sideways - she still looks so tiny! We can’t read more ....

For an “indy” film festival, Cannes sure ends up bringing in a lot of big names! To start, the festival will be led by Julianne Moore who is starring in the thriller, “Blindness,” and kicks off the fest. But A-list celebs don’t stop there - and along with the list comes - in the fashion world - a desire to be the designer to clothe these big-name stars.

With attendees like Cate Blanchett, Scarlett Johansson, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, Christina Ricci, Penélope Cruz and Ziyi Zhang, as well as jury member Natalie Portman, there’s already been an outcry from the read more ....

If it seems like an odd time to hitch your wagon to Lindsay Lohan’s star, you’d be right. Never the less, Italian lifestyle brand, Fornarina, is doing just that. The company has enlisted Lohan as the new face for the label and is planning a push into the world’s fashion capitals over the next five years. They’re hoping this push will triple business, but it’s just hard to take that idea seriously when Lohan has brought down just about everything she’s been involved with!

Maybe the brand is figuring any publicity is good publicity, and perhaps they’re counting on the read more ....

No matter how many times I write about how fashion shows, they seem to debut their lines earlier and earlier every year, it’s still somehow always a surprise to me just HOW early these lines show up. One of this week’s big fashion events was the Christian Dior 2009 Cruise Collection. While it is nearly half-way through 2008 (!!) it’s still hard to imagine next year’s cruise wear when it’s not even summer in many places!
