Sofia’s ready for her close-up

Posted under fashion & Sofia Coppola & Sharon Stone

Maybe the timing is coincidental. Maybe it’s perfect timing. But hot on the heels of Sharon Stone’s Dior ads getting dropped in China, a new Dior model is coming up through the ranks. The brand announced that it signed Sofia Coppola to be the new face of it’s Dior Cerie fragrance.
The company is said to have signed Sofia Coppola to direct a TV advertising campaign, which will begin airing in September. The campaign reportedly will also feature Byelorussian model Maryna in addition to Coppola.

Dior - perhaps wanting to keep a low profile - didn’t comment on these read more ....

Naomi’s got to change her ways

Posted under fashion & Sharon Stone & naomi campbell

Yesterday we talked about one model in hot water (Sharon Stone - for her upsetting comments made about the China quake) and today yet another model is responsible for bad blood yet again - this time it may come as less of a surprise! Naomi Campbell is in hot water in Britian, where the British Crown Prosecution Service (I’m not sure what that is, but it SOUNDS serious!) charged Campbell with six offenses linked to her apparent outburst in April which occured at Heathrow Airport.

The charges stem from a dispute that arose over lost Louis Vuitton luggage on a read more ....

Talk About Karmic Retribution: Sharon Stone Gets Hers!

Posted under fashion & Sharon Stone

In comments regarding the China earthquake, Sharon Stone - the face of Dior worldwide - said, “I’ve been concerned with how we should deal with the Olympics, because they are not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who is a good friend of mine,” said Stone. “And then all this earthquake and all this stuff happened and I though, is that karma – when you’re not nice that the bad things happen to you?” Stone said.

News outlets around the world obviously picked these comments up, and the interview was posted on YouTube. This was not good news for her read more ....

If the Watch Fits, Wear It

Posted under fashion

Isn’t it ironic that people who spend their lives writing about celebs and trends somehow end up becoming iconic and trendy themselves? Such is the case with  Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. Her job “forces” her to hobnob at fashion shows, rub elbows at galas and be all-around fab.

So doesn’t it seem sorta fitting that she’d be hot on the heels to do what tons of other celebs have done? Create her own fashion line? She’s not actually designing clothes - no, this matriarch is going above and beyond clothes and dabbling in the high-end watch market. She appears to read more ....

You “Cannes” Party all Night Long With Kate Hudson & Friends

Posted under fashion & Madonna & Kate Hudson & Lance Armstrong & Sharon Stone

Dior and French Elle honored cover girl Sharon Stone last night - quite a change of pace from last year’s face, Mischa Barton. Many stars were conveniently close by, participating in the Cannes Film Festival.

The party went on  till around midnight, when guests boarded Dior shuttles back to Cannes for Dolce & Gabbana’s fifth annual La Dolce Vita party. Let’s just stop right there. Not only do these A-listers get to hang out in France and attend multiple parties and siorees, they get to be ferried back and forth from them in comped shuttles? If only Dior would start read more ....

‘Sex’ Finally Comes to NYC With Sarah Jessica Parker & the Gang!

Posted under fashion & Fergie & Sarah Jessica Parker & Kim Cattrall & Cynthia Nixon & Jerry Seinfeld & Bette Midler & L'il Kim & Eli Manning & Elvis Presley & kristin davis

Between leaked pictures, overseas premiers, fashion speculation and more, you may already be over the idea of the Sex and the City movie. But brace yourself for more, because the film just opened last night in the US, appropriately in NYC at the Radio City Music Hall. Screaming fans - mostly gals and their pals - turned out in hopes of catching a glimpse of their decked-out screen idols.
The four - Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon — walked the appropriately pink, sparkly carpet. Parker wore a long-trained Nine Ricci dress and was being coached read more ....

Cookin’ up a Great Deal

Posted under fashion & Vera Wang

Discount retailer Khol’s is bringing another celebrity face into the fold. While the latest addition will join the ranks of super star designers like Vera Wang - who created a lower-cost version of her clothes for the store - his area of expertise isn’t fashion.

Food Network star Bobby Flay debuted his “casual lifestyle” collection this month set up to encompass fashionable food-preparation products: unique grilling items, and the Mediterranean influences of Bobby’s culinary point of view.

Not only are his pieces easy-on-the-eyes, they’re easy on the wallet as well. At launch, regular prices will range from $4.99 for an read more ....

Let Has-Beens be Has-Beens

Posted under fashion & LL Cool J

You know it’s a bad sign when a washed up store signs a washed up “star” to do their publicity, in hopes of raising flagging sales. But that is the way of things over at sad-sack store Sears, who recently brought on LL Cool J to launch a celeb label exclusive to the store. You know how I feel about most celeb partnerships, but in this case, I’m not sure the tried and true formula (name cache + little or no style and/or business skills = sales no matter what) will work. LL Cool J is lacking the first part read more ....

Footwear Goes Retro - and Roman

Posted under fashion

I’ve seen jelly sandals popping up in various places - from the runway to the dollar section of Target. As a child of the 80’s, it’s very hard for me to come to terms with this particular fashion re-incarnation. Not only do jelly shoes look funky, the massive amounts of plastics needed to make them seem woefully bad for the environment, and one of the things I remember most about them is that they make your feet sweat copious, disgusting amounts.

So should I be surprised that the latest jelly fad combines ANOTHER recent trend - that of the gladiator read more ....

Happy Birth/Memorial Day, Kingston!

Posted under fashion & Gwen Stefani

Just so happens the Rossdale-Gwen Stefani family had more than one reason to be grateful for this Memorial Day holiday! Their son, Kingston, turns two today! Not only is it a special day for the country and their family, you can definitely see how - even at two - Kingston is claiming a personal style. OK, OK, at two years old, we’re not sure how “personal” it is - I guess it’s more likely that his parents are bequeathing a bit of their style upon him.

Never-the-less, even with the pacifier, he’s rocking his long hair and mini-track suit. Just read more ....
