Luck of the Draw

Posted under fashion & Calvin Klein & Kate Bosworth & Jim Sturgess & Mary Kate Olsen & Clive Owen & Elle MacPherson

Casino came to the Big Apple as Calvin Klein hosted a special screening of the movie, “21.” The film is based on a true story and stars Kate Bosworth and Jim Sturgess as MIT students who put their math skills to work at the Vegas blackjack tables. Bosworth was on hand for the screening, as she’s also doing double duty as the frontwoman for Calvin Klein’s latest campaign.

Although there were games to be played, the stars of the movie left the card playing to their characters, though, and opted instead to pass time with other A-list friends, like Mary read more ....

From Dress-less, to Best Dressed

Posted under fashion

There’s no way to avoid the tabloid headlines - and pictures - surrounding France’s First Lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and she and her husband’s visit to London. Yes, yes, she posed nude 15 years ago - but we also think it’s worth noting just how incredible she looks IN clothes, as well.

Well-educated and fluent in three languages, she’s more than just a pretty face, and once this brew-ha-ha subsides, we expect she’ll be on more than a few best-dressed lists. She must have had a team of image consultants working to help make her new title - as the First read more ....

A Bush Who Loves the Earth

Posted under fashion & George W Bush

Considering she’s the niece of President George W Bush, you might not expect Lauren Bush to be as pretty (she’s a fashion model!) or as earth-friendly as she is. She recently launched her own company called FFED projects, which creates products and gives the proceeds to help people in need.

The perfect item from this company is the cotton-and-jute burlap bag. Its clever “FEED” inscription on the side is expounded upon by the phrase “the children of the world.” This isn’t an ordinary “feed bag!” The proceeds from the sales of this bag will feed a child for a year read more ....

Spring Has Sprung!

Posted under fashion & Eva Mendes

I couldn’t help but point out Eva Mendes’ springy look. I just LOVE this time of year when vibrant colors really come to life and the sun is out. Even if it’s not as warm where you are as it is in SoCal, you can still steal some of Eva’s style.

I love that she’s paired this cute Juicy dress with basic flip flops - a true casual LA look. the detailing on the sleeves of this tunic add an extra girly touch. And although this dress seems a little short to wear in real life without leggings or something, read more ....

Who Knew Mariah Hearts “The Hills?”

Posted under fashion & Mariah Carey

Leave it to Mariah Carey to make an appearance at a the premier of a teen-dominated show. The songstress was on hand to help the cast of The Hills celebrate their season three premier, and stuck around for the after party.

We’re not denying that Mariah looks BETTER than some teenagers, we just find the appearance an odd pairing. However, in this picture it IS hard to tell who’s younger than who. And as much as we hate to say it - she’s probably not the worst-dressed gal in this photo.

We’re not sure what’s going on with Whitney’s outfit, read more ....

Alien movie draws celebs to Prada store

Posted under fashion

Prada Alien

An alien movie brought A-listers to the Prada store in Los Angeles - for a party celebrating the movie. The animated short, called “Trembled Blossoms,” follows a naked alien as she wanders through the forest, and finally emerges fully clothed in Prada-wear. Sounds kind of weird to me, but in H’wood, anything goes.
Stars like Rumer Willis, Rosario Dawson, Brittany Murphy and Rashinda Jones turned up to follow the alien through her fashion-less misery, and into her final couture triumph.  The girls wore appropriately springy and ethereal dresses and mingled in the store before and after the event. read more ....

Victoria Beckham Strikes an … odd … pose for Marc

Posted under fashion & Victoria Beckham & Marc jacobs

We know we\’ve been talking a lot about fashion\’s favorite Beckham (although we bet David\’s steamy ads are giving his wife a run for her money!) but this ad certainly bared commenting on.

VICTORIA BECKHAM HAT.jpg

At a glance, you can hardly tell it\’s Victoria! It\’s definitely a variation from her typical ads, and definitely a variation for Marc Jacobs - although they have been known to have interesting ad campaigns. I\’m usually a big fan of Posh, but I\’m not sure I can get behind this one. It looks like she\’s channeling Gwen Stefani\’s Asian Harajuku look - and converting it to read more ....

Black is the new bob?

Posted under fashion & Claudia Schiffer & Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld was in Harlem this week, shooting his fall Chanel ad campaign with supermodel Claudia Schiffer. Schiffer was wearing a short, black wig for the photoshoot - which hearkens back to another designer’s look at Paris Fashion Week. Stefano Pilati put short, black bob wigs on all his models while debuting his newest line in Paris recently. So, is black the new blond? Is the bob getting a slightly edgier look, when updated with this darker hue?

If anyone would know, it would be Karl. He definitely gets around on the fashion scene. He’s also shooting the Fendi campaign. read more ....

Donatella Versace on Display

Posted under fashion & Donatella Versace

 donatella v.jpg

I know, you’re probably thinking, “Isn’t Donatella ALWAYS on display” and the answer to that is obviously yes - with her injected lips and pumped up chest and teeny tiny figure and platinum hair it’s hard not to notice her wherever she goes.

But this time, she actually PUT herself on display - in a Barney’s New York Madison Avenue window last night. She played mannequin in order to launch her men’s wear collection.

An interesting mix of celebs then followed the Italian designer upstairs for a party. What other fashion superstar could pull this mottled list together: Busta read more ....

Pete Wentz + Nordstrom = … Match Made in Heaven?

Posted under fashion & Pete Wentz

When you think of classy, upscale department store, Nordstrom, you don’t think of trendy poppy-punk rocker. Yet. Come April, that all could change.
Pete and his band, Fall Out Boy, are slated to launch an exclusive junior sportswear line next month. The line will include graphic T-shirts, hoodies, denim jeans and accessories, and will be carried the Clandestine Industries label.

The clothes are going to be designed exclusively for Nordstrom, and are set to be sold in 600 stores nation wide.   Nordstrom signed an exclusive agreement with Wentz, with spring deliveries in April and summer deliveries in June.
