Paris Fashion Week Loves Yellow & Blake Lively

Posted under fashion & Blake Lively & Mandy More

I had to post this picture of Mandy Moore:

It reminds me of the recent Blake Lively outfit - also worn at Paris Fashion Week. Both girls chose yellow trench coats to help liven up otherwise relatively mellow outfits. Mandi’s black dress and platform pumps are precious - and a little sexy! - but not something feature-worthy by themselves. Throw on that bright trench, though, and you’ve got a classic - and fresh - look.

Bold colors turned out to be one of the highlights of Paris fashion week - with yellow setting the tone on many stages. Guess Mandy read more ....

Blake Livens up the Paris Fashion Scene

Posted under fashion & Blake Lively

Spring is hardly even here, and already we’re welcoming in Fall collection shows. It’s Paris Fashion Week and stars are turning out to see what they’ll be wearing in another six months.

Notably, Blake Lively  made an appearance at the Valentino show - wearing one of the designer’s pieces. We have to say, it’s not often a (young) American starlet gives the city of fashion and lights something to talk about, but we’ve got to hand it to Blake.

This ensemble is cutting-edge and youthful, yet still classic. No wonder she picked this off-the-shoulder dress to pay homage to Valentino read more ....

Posh Flirts With Paris

Posted under fashion & Marc jacobs & Posh Spice & Ellen Pompeo

No, we’re not talking about the heiress, we’re talking about Ms. Beckham’s appearance at Paris Fashion Week. She may never smile for the camera, but we can’t help but think she’s super-glam anyway.

Vickie showed up to support her designer pal Marc Jacobs - for whom she recently did a “back to basics” fashion spread.

While we will probably always think Posh is delish, we will admit she makes some questionable fashion choices. Paris fashion week is known to be a bit over the top, so we can somewhat excuse the sequined, backless (but bra-enclosure included!) “shirt.”

Posh was joined read more ....

Best-Dressed Oscar Couples

Posted under fashion & Emily Blunt & Daniel Craig & Michael Buble

Ok, we know. The Oscars’ red carpet - and pretty much any other red carpet event - are all about the dresses, the fashion hits and misses. But we’d like to pay homage to the couples that get it right. It’s not always easy to look good together, yet not come off looking too matchy-matchy.

Jessica Alba and Cash Warren

Of course, these glam pairs get to hang out on the red carpet, so we don’t feel too bad for them!

I’m not usually a HUGE Maggie fan, but wow. This dress just jumped read more ....

Oscar’s Worst-Dressed

Posted under fashion & Daniel Day Lewis

If the amazing glamour and fashion are what draw us to the red carpet, the heinously put-together looks provided by some starlets are the car wrecks that keep us there. Observe:

Here’s one couple that DID opt for the “matchy-matchy” I talked about in an earlier post. And this is why it doesn’t work! Plus, what’s the deal with Daniel Day Lewis’ wife, Rebecca Miller’s dress. Floral and bows? It’s 2008!

I hesitated putting Ellen Page on my list because I love her as an actress and usually like her laid-back fashion choices - she seems unpretentious and read more ....

Is Nicole’s Sheer Number Golden?

Posted under fashion & Christina Aguilera & Nicole Kidman

 nicole_kidman_standing_oddly.jpg

Some observers say the detailing of this “fashion forward” dress distracts from Nicole Kidman’s growing belly, but we’re not sure that’s a bad thing. Some Hollywood stars (yes, we’re looking at you, Christina Aguilera) have been showing FAR too much of their baby bumps!

Never the less, we’re not sure that this sheer number was the best way to provide a distraction! And it’s not even the sheerness. What’s up with all the other detailing? The panels. The panels. The lace. The odd sleeves. Any one of these things would be enough to focus a dress on - you read more ....

Mischa Barton REALLY misses the mark

Posted under fashion & Mischa Barton

mischa.jpg

I was never a fan of the OC, hence I’ve never really been here or there about Mischa Barton. Although after seeing this outfit, I have to say that I’m definitely more “there.” I know high wasted pants have supposedly made a come back, and I know that if anyone can pull it off it would be super-skinny Hollywood girls. But c’mon! These are grade A, certifiable “mom jeans!”

Alright, Mischa. You have stylists and designers at your disposal. If they’re responsible for this outfit, you need to learn to trust your instincts a bit. And if this IS your read more ....

Rachel Takes the “Jump”

Posted under fashion & Rachel Bilson

 rachel bilson 1.jpg

Rachel Bilson is getting older … and wiser? Whatever your decision on that point, she’s definitely less “girl next door” - although there’s no denying that look and attitude worked for her as Summer on the OC, and she will probably always have some of that sweetness appeal.

But at the premier of her new movie, Jumper, she looked every inch Hollywood glam – apparently leaving behind “Summer” in favor of  “sexier.” The star put a sleek look together with her sophisticated metallic dress crowned by basic – yet also sleek – hair, and darker, more grown-up read more ....

Heidi Klum and Will Ferrell Steal the Swimsuit Show

Posted under fashion & Heidi Klum & Will Ferrell & Marisa Miller

heidi klum and will ferrell.jpg

Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit mag is on sale now (Marisa Miller on the cover)– and usually I would NOT be one to write about this cliché slightly-clothed-otherwise-would-be-porn edition, but you have to give them credit for the way they played it this year.

wwfbackissues_1989_33435706.gif

The magazine paired up Heidi Klum and Will Ferrell for a near spoof of themselves – over-vamping and hamming it up together, the two make for a hilarious spread.

Ferrell is decked out in the wardrobe – and hair! - from his new movie “Semi-Pro,” and Klum plays the fawning, scantily clad, over-blown model character to a “T!” read more ....

Head for the Hills - the “Heidiwood” hills …

Posted under fashion & Heidi Montag

heidie montag.jpg

Heidi Montag may not have been the most foremost aspiring fashion desinger on The Hills, but she’s putting her brief stint at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising to work and launching her own fashion line called Heidiwood. So, will the clothes live up to the uncreative, kind of stupid name?

She’s working with retailer Anchor Blue to create a line for juniors, set to debut in April. It will be geared to teens – in style and price. The striped dresses, tanks, tees, shorts, and white-denim tops, along with purses and accessories bags are priced from $10 to read more ....
