Milan Fashion Week Takes a Detour with Beyonce

Posted under fashion

Armani says he’s “Beyond Trends,” or is it “Beyonce Trends?”

“ Beyond Beyonce?”

Anyway … Giorgio Armani used the gorgeous fashionista/singer/superstar/hottie to peddle his trends (ahem **pieces,** since the line apparently is now above “trends”) on the runway in Milan this week. Specifically, Beyonce opened the show, crooning “Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend” in front of a backdrop advertising Armani’s new perfume.

We touched on this in an earlier post concerning Milan fashion week – but what’s up with designers essentially using their runways as ad space? Of course there’s a little mix and mingle no matter what way read more ....

‘Fashion for Relief’

As the founder of the 2005 charity ‘Fashion for Relief’ Naomi Campbell has now ‘put her trikini where her tummy is’ and made a surprise celebrity appearance and taken to the catwalks of Milan sporting next years designs for the beaches of St Tropez, Monte Carlo and California.

While the majority of us are just dragging out our winter woolies, Naomi led a bevvy of bathing beauties down the catwalk, displaying the barely-there trikini, a bikini design with a linked front section, which will be a must-have for anyone wanting to make an impression by read more ....

Designers at London’s Fashion Week

Posted under fashion

As we mentioned yesterday, a smorgasboard of superstars jetted across the pond, from one fabulous fashion week (New York) to the other (London) - oh to be rich and glamorous!
But back to fashion - these stars - who obviously can’t pass up a chance to schmooze in style - were busy taking in some of the newest looks from designers many Americans probably haven’t even heard of. We’re here to help.

Armand Basi came all the way from Germany, on the creator’s insistence that he make his brand international, and not simply show it within Germany. Basi has morphed read more ....

From NYC to London: Fashion Week Hops the Pond

Posted under fashion

golden_couture.jpg

What would anything fashion-related be without all-at-once icon/grunge girl/trend-starter/rehab visitor/super star Kate Moss? In spite of the drama and controversy that sometimes often swirls around her, she’s made a huge name for herself, and that’s why we wouldn’t have expected anything less than her flawless presence at London fashion week. (We know, SF fashion week was only a few weeks ago, followed by the be-all-end-all, week-to-end-all-weeks in New York, now - here comes London hot on its heels. What’s a fashion obsessed girl to do?)

Emmys Red Carpet Fashion

Posted under fashion

The hottest trends on the red carpet at this weekend’s Emmys? Strapless, black and white, alternated with vibrant colors.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Ugly Betty) winner America Ferrera held her golden statue and smiled for the cameras. Of course, without braces and glasses - and smoldering in her cobalt blue jewel-toned Monique Lhuillier gown. “She made this dress for me,” the first-time winner gushed, “I love it, it feels really good.”

Celebs and Fashion Week

Fashion Week NYC — as usual — was as much about the famous faces in the audience as the fabulous styles on the runway.

The kick-off party - hosted by Van Cleef & Arpels at Hammerstein Ballroom - had a Paris theme (”Une Journe A Paris”) and featured a French band, caberet dancers, and some very American stars. Sarah Michelle Gellar, in particular, mentioned one specifically enviable point. She said she’d owned her Chanel dress for a while, but was just now wearing it for the first time.

Just an Illusion or Keeping Mum???

j low in green.jpg

The normally figure-hugging clad Miss Jennifer Lopez stepped out at New York Fashion week to launch her new clothing line ‘JustSweet’ in a ‘far less than flattering’ emerald green ‘body bag’ shapped dress which created the illusion of her either having eaten too much pizza or hiding a baby bump!

Apparently there was a big buzz back stage about Jen being pregnant. The 39 year old has made no secret of the fact that she would love to have a baby with husband, fellow Puerto Rican singer, Marc Anthony whom she married in 2004.

While married to Ben Afflick it read more ....

Celebrity Fashion and the VMAs

In light of the Britney anticipation (and subsequent let down), it’s easy to see how fashion on the red carpet could be overlooked. We’re here to rectify the situation. Some outfits were just as bad as Brit’s sloppy stripper performance, but other stars stepped up to the plate (or the red carpet) and brought their fashion best.

Slinky satin set the tone for the evening, which on some stars is no surprise. Paris Hilton stepped out in a leopard print sheath/corset/lingerie dress - the style has become somewhat of her red carpet trademark. She paired it with something a bit read more ....

Have we found a Replacement for Princess Diana?

naomi Campbell off to the floods!.jpg

Have we found a replacement for Princess Diana?

The position for ‘saint’ has been vacant for just over ten years now following the death of Princess Diana, and it looks like Naomi Campbell might be vying for the title by submitting her resume (CV in the UK) for the job.

‘Our Lady’ of humanity and caring - and of course the champion cell phone thrower - has jumped into the fray after floods ravaged central England during the summer leaving 7 people dead. Along with her ‘model’ friends, Elle MacPherson, Yasmin Le Bon and Jodie Kidd, Naomi has launched ‘Fashion read more ....
