Paris fashion week even brought out the likes of rapper Kanye West - whose street style sense may seem somewhat out of place at couture shows, but he begs to differ, saying,
“I’m here for Louis.”

Wow - to be on first-name terms with a fashion great like that, you really have to know the right people! And apparently Kanye does. He went on to say that he’s collaborating on a men’s shoes line for the brand. As Kanye West proved when he showed up to Annie Leibovitz and Louis Vuitton’s  private inauguration of the artist’s retrospective, “A Photographer’s Life, 1990-2005,” earlier this week at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (European House of Photography).

The show moves between portraits of public figures from the entertainment and political arenas and snaps from Leibovitz’s private photo album.

Sofia Coppola joined Kanye, along with Audrey Marnay who mingled among the event’s arty crowd. Mischa Barton also attended, as did Giambattista Valli. One of the pieces on display was a read more ....

They’re already big names in the directing world - and in mainstream pop culture. Now, the rumor is that Louis Vuitton is planning on keeping it in the family with father/daughter directors Francis Ford Coppola and Sophia Coppola. The words is that the pair will be part of the LV’s “Core Values” campaign.
According to sources, the Coppolas recently posed together for photographer Annie Leibovitz in Argentina - the location where the elder Coppola is filming his latest movie, “Tetro.”

Francis and Sophia won’t be the first somewhat unusual choices for this particular LV campaign, which is said to underscore read more ....

Marc Jacobs in OUT magazine

In keeping with the recent trend we’ve seen of design houses turning to the big screen to tell their story, look for Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton on the Sundance Channel next month.

Prior to that, Marc Jacobs will host a screening of this documentary on January 31st (before the end of his fall runway show) at Manhattan’s Tribeca Grand hotel.

The film was directed by Loïc Pringent, who interviewed friends and fans of the designer, including Uma Thurman and Demi Moore. Expected to attend the screening are Helena Christensen, Sofia Coppola and Michael read more ....
