The latest fad to hit the cat walks of this year’s worldwide fashion weeks seems to be the Spicy shoe and with the Spice Girl, Posh Spice wearing them, they’re guaranteed to have women everywhere gasping with delight!

Seen at Paris fashion week, created by Marc Jacobs and worn by Victoria Beckham, and strangely named the ‘Spicy’ shoe it was bound for footwear stardom in much the same way that the Manolo Blahnik shoe gained it’s status in the world of shoes with Carrie Bradshaw, of Sex and the City fame and played by Sarah Jessica Parker, tottering around the streets of Manhhattan in the little darlings!

Looking like a close cousin to last year’s gladiator style, the Spicy shoe is a creation born out of an early morning exercise in artistic stimulation by the Marc Jacob designer team as they sat around his kitchen table cutting up pieces of snake, leather, leopard and ribbon and adding a few beads and feathers to the mix.

The shoes have become a huge success with Posh Spice, Heidi Klum, Chloe Sevigny and Madonna parading themselves around in them.

But with a price tag of £2,040, the average girl on the street wont be rushing to purchase the real deal during a time or job losses and recession but the good news is that UK stores such as Top Shop are retailing the ‘Spicy’ imposters at just £120. But we think that with a little inventiveness, creation, beads, buttons and feathers, these shoes could be constructed at anyone’s kitchen table in the early hours of the morning!
